Passive Fire Protection (PFP) is a vital component of structural fire protection and fire safety in a building. PFP is designed to contain fires and slow the progress of a fire, through the use of fire resistant materials utilised throughout a building.
The purpose of PFP is to provide more time to the building occupants and to allow emergency evacuation or to reach an area of refuge in the event of a fire outbreak. PFP works by preventing or slowing the spread of fire from the fire origin to other building spaces.
